As times changed and shopping moved online, we adapted too. We became PB Shop, an online bookstore that now has the pleasure of sending thousands of titles to book lovers around the world. Though we've grown, our roots as a community of local book enthusiasts continue to guide us, and we take great pride in our work.

In 2020, we marked two special occasions: our 20th anniversary and our first year as a fully employee-owned company, after becoming an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) in September 2019. We believe, as Helen Keller so wisely put it, that “Alone, we can do so little; together we can do so much.” This spirit of collaboration is something we hold dear.

    Welcome to PBShop, where a love for books is at the heart of everything we do. While our online store may seem like a new chapter, our story began many years ago as The Paperback Exchange, a small chain of physical bookstores where readers could exchange their well-loved books for new adventures.

    What makes us a little different is our unique approach. We work from a virtual inventory, which allows us to offer an impressive range of books—some of which might be difficult to find elsewhere. We’ve also expanded to include puzzles, games, sheet music, vinyls, and stationery, so there’s truly something for everyone. We like to think that life is all about variety, and we’re happy to bring a bit of that to you.
